Bees Swarm in Blenheim
Excitement hit Memorial Park last night in a really close match-up.  Shaky on defense and offense early, the Sox looked poised to complete the comeback on Thursday night in Blenheim.

A strange night at the plate, which saw 5 strikeouts, coupled with some early blunders in the field, helped the home Bees jump out to a 4-2 lead after 5 innings.  The Sox did not see a player reach base until there were 2 out in the 2nd inning.  And it was not until the 5th that the Sox scored, when Johnson and Arnold finally drove in the first two runs (Stevens and Hutson) for the visiting DMBA Select Black Sox.  But the 6th was offensive magic, as McMillan, Morrison, Wright, Stiles, Stevens, Hutson, and Johnson all scored, and the Sox were ahead 9-4.  The boys gave 6 of those back in the bottom half, and after a couple of hits in the top of the 7th by Tubman and Mercer, it was Richardson who drove in the tying run.  Tied at 10 with one out and runners on 1st and 3rd in the home half of the seventh, the Bees hit a ball through the right side, where Johnson was shallow, and made a strong throw to the plate, but it was not quite in time, as the Bees buzzed for the winning run.  Along the way, there were some bright defensive spots for the Sox in the 2nd, 3rd and 5th.  Strom slapped a nice tag in a Blenheim player at the plate, and Stiles and Mercer each came up with fine line drive snags.  The boys travel to Ingersoll next Thursday.
