Dorchester Minor Baseball will be running a Minor Peewee Rep program for the 2019 season.   This team will play in the regular LDBA loop for regular season play, and a few tournaments.

However, in addition to the above, the team also plans to attend a once-in-a-lifetime experience for young ball players…..a week of baseball in Cooperstown, New York.

If you care to learn more about this tournament, simply visit:

http://www.cooperstownallstarvillage.com/

And please do check out the recent article in the Dorchester Signpost, covering the 2018 Minor Peewee team’s experience this past summer.

As you can imagine, there will be much additional preparation and fundraising this year, in order to make the Cooperstown dream a reality.

Therefore, we will be holding tryouts this fall, as follows:

Saturday, October 6th, 9am

Sunday, October 7th, 10:00am

Friday, October 12th, 5:00pm

Saturday, October 13th, 10am

Sunday, October 14th, 11:00am (Rain/Weather Reschedule Day only)

All sessions are 2 hours in duration, and will be held at Thorndale Community Centre, Diamond #2.

Players MUST attend 3 out of the 4 sessions to be considered for the team.  Accommodations have been made, to the greatest extent possible, to avoid conflict with the various hockey programs, although complete avoidance was simply not possible.

Please be punctual, prepared with all equipment, water, and your best attitude!

I will be coordinating and act as the head of a three-person evaluation committee.

Players will be assessed on baseball knowledge and awareness, attitude and coachability, speed, throwing/pitching skills, hitting skills, and general athleticism.

Cost is $40 per player to try out, to be collected before the first session.

Yours in baseball,

Tim Zelenko, 2018 DMBA President

NOTE:  Mark Stevens will be the head coach of this team, however, he will not be involved in the selection process.  The team will be selected and presented to Mark upon completion of the tryouts.
