Sam Willsie Makes Diamondbacks Proud!
Congratulations to Sam Willsie for placing first in the team championship level of the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run competition in the 9/10 age group! The competition was held this past weekend at the Rogers Centre in Toronto prior to the Blue Jays game.

Sam who plays for the Minor Mosquito Dorchester Diamondback team initially won the local competition held in Dorchester and moved on to the regional event in St. Marys where he also placed first. This enabled him to participate in Toronto against the other regional champs from all over Ontario.

The local and regional events have been happening all over Canada and the US to narrow down the field to compete at the MLB team level. Each of the 32 major league teams have held these events to crown champions and Sam earned his way to the Blue Jays competition where he didn't disappoint! The highest scorers out of all of the champions at the MLB team level will move on to the MLB All-Star game in San Diego to compete for the overall championship. Once all major league teams have held their events the scores will be tallied and it will be determined whether Sam will be eligible for San Diego!

Before the Blue Jays game Sam was featured on the Jumbotron and received a handshake from Jesse Chavez as well as high fives from Ryan Goins and Kevin Pillar! MVP Josh Donaldson even acknowledged him!

Congratulation Sam on a job well done and for representing the Diamondbacks at the Rogers Centre!
