Major Rookie Rep, 2017 (Dorchester Baseball)

The Dorchester Diamondbacks Rookie Rep team participated in their League Playoffs this weekend.  Although starting off slow against St.  Thomas, losing 16-6.  They came to play the next day beating Strathroy 14-10, and then facing a strong London Tecumseh.  The game was back and forth but the Diamondbacks capped it off with a nice force play at second to win the game 11-10.  We then had to play the Tin Caps which had our number all season.  Our boys played very well even though we lost 14-4, they came out and played their hearts out.  So coming in second place in the League Playoffs was quite ...

The game started off back and forth between the two teams.  We would score a run then they would score a run.  Finally I pulled the players aside and said if you guys win tonight I will host a pool party after the game.  The players were excited and were able to score a few runs to go ahead.  In the bottom of the seventh one of their players hit a base hit.  Next batter hit a ground ball up the middle and Ryan Lehouillier picked up the ground ball touched second base and threw the ball to first to turn a double play.  The next batter hit a pop fly to the infield and the diamondbacks won 11-8. ...

The first inning Strathroy put up 3 runs, Diamondbacks fell short only scoring one run.  The second inning, Strathroy had two base hits allowing runners on first and second.  The next batter hit a line shot up the middle Ryder Morrison made a running snag touched second base and threw the guy out at first to capture a stunning triple play to end the inning. 

I want to thank all of the parents and players who were involved in the workouts/tryouts.  I'd also like to thank many of the helpers that assisted us with all of the stations we had provided for the players. Just a reminder of our workouts for February 17th from 4-5 at Centrefield Sports Complex.  I would suggest getting there by 3:45-3:50 to take care of the sign up sheet and payment.  Payment option are as the following:  $5 per session (excluding tryouts).  Tryouts is a base fee of $30 or another option is to pay $40 for all sessions.  Also, make sure to bring a glove, helmet, indoor shoes, bat if you have one and comfortable cloths.  If you have any other questions please email at [email protected]
