See-Saw Battle Goes to the D-Backs!
In a fun-filled back-and-forth outing, the Diamondbacks showed off some new skills.
Dorchester traded runs in the first with the Athletics, and were down 2-1 after two innings. 7 Ks over three innings by Stevens helped keep the game close. The ball was handed over to Charlie Box, who was super on the hill, forcing the opposition to swing the bat. Stevens, Wallace and Pettit stole home on heads-up base-running.
Richardson pounded the best "hit" of the game, but a great play by the Athletics' right-fielder was just as nice!
Brody Tubman had the go-ahead RBI in the 5th on a ground ball to the right side, to score Pettit. McMillan executed our first successful "run on the third pitch in the dirt" play, and also gunned out a runner at third, with Johnson slapping on a nice tag.
Arnold and Johnson were effective behind the plate for the home team as well.
Look for Mercer to start one of the two games next week against London.
Player of the game goes to Pettit for a double, three runs scored, and 3 fine defensive plays.
(Honourable mention to several others, including C. Box)
