Late Rally Gives Fans a Lift!
It was an exciting 6th inning for the Minor Mosquitoes in London on Tuesday.
It was a slow offensive start for Dorchester, as Zeleznik scored from third base in the 1st inning on a passed ball, and not again until the 4th inning, plating only the team's 2nd run! Finding themselves down 12-2 after 4 innings, the D-Backs need to score to keep the mercy at bay. They did just that. Wallace drew a walk, as Pettit and McMillan each singled, helping the visiting team to score 2. A stellar catch in left field by Tubman ended a bases-loaded, 2-out threat by the Nationals in the fifth, giving the boys another chance to hit. Using 7 walks, 2 singles, and a great deal of smart, aggressive base running, the Diamondbacks plated 7 runs, before the Nationals' 3rd baseman made a fine play on Arnold's groundball to end the onslaught. Richardson earns player of the game for a nice catch in right, fine base running, and a sweet double in the fourth to score the team's second run. Honourable mention to Johnson (nice fly ball catch) and Pettit (double play at 2nd). Solid pitching efforts from Mercer, Wallace, and Zeleznik! Next up are the visiting Tecumsehs tomorrow night in Dorchester!
