Hey Parents,
I know I have had a lot of inquiries, and I think I am well
enough health wise to get going for our season…
I know it is a busy time for everyone and the tryout times are not perfect, but we need to do our best to make it work. The main issue is CFS sports is very busy and being the age, our guys are at we really need a full field to get throwing and stuff in, so we are going with after school times like we did the last couple season.
I know a few guys go to different high schools than the Dorchester guys so do you best to get to Centre Field Sports as soon as you can. Every tryout will be an hour on the Full Field and then an hour hitting or pitching in the batting cages. CFS is usually pretty good with us at that time of the day. If there any issues getting you player there let me know and we will see what we can do.
As of now we will have 5 Tryouts/Workouts scheduled ~ the first night will be more kick the rust off but I am asking that your player try to attend at minimum 3 of the 5 tryouts to get a fair look. I have the ability to add a 6th if I feel the need.
As of now the schedule will be as follows:
Friday Feb 16th ~ 3-4pm Full Field – 4-5pm 2 Cages
Friday Feb 23rd ~ 3-4pm Full Field – 4-5pm 2 Cages
Friday Mar 1st ~ 3-4 Full Field – 4-5pm 2 Cages
Friday Mar 8th ~ 3-4 Full Field -- 4-5pm 2 Cages
Monday Mar 18th ~ 3-4pm Full Field -- 4-5pm 2 Cages
***Possible last Tryout/Work out on Friday Mar 29th same times as above.
Once again, I know we have jobs, hockey, school and vacations we are all dealing with so please just keep in communication with me if issues arise I will do my best. I just want to give each player the best opportunity to shine. As of Jan 31st we have 19 players trying out and we will decide on roster number as things shake out. Just a reminder from my last communication so you are aware this is what we are looking at for the season..
At this moment we will likely be home nights Thursday’s at 8:30pm and practices Monday’s at 8:30pm however that is not 100% confirmed. We are hoping to get some Monday nights for home games to avoid getting bumped by GLC for tournaments and for our own pitching for our tournaments.
At present for Tournaments:
Orillia Tournament May 17-19th ~ we are still currently on the wait list for this one. (Would like to find an early one for pickings are slim.)
Dorchester Summer Slam ~ Jun 28-30th ~ Royal Field
St.Thomas Cardinal Tournament ~ Jul 19th-21st ~ Emslie Field
OBA “C” Championship ~ August 16th-18Th ~ Kingsville
LDBA Playoffs ~ August 23rd-25th ~ Dorchester ~ Royal Field
I know a few parents have reached out already ~ if you already know your player is away for any of the tryout dates please let me know in advance, so I know how many players to expect at each tryout and I have an idea for planning. Thanks again and I hope everyone as excited as I am to get going.
