GENERAL INFORMATION

 

1.  Tournament Headquarters will be located at Dorchester Diamonds 1&2.

 

2.  All teams are guaranteed 3 games, weather permitting. In case of weather or other unforeseen delays, the tournament schedule, and details such as time limits and curfews may be revised at the discretion of the Tournament Convenor.  All updates will be posted on the Dorchester Baseball website (www.dorchesterbaseball.com).

 

3.  A team roster must be available in the event player eligibility is questioned.  This roster must be approved by the Affiliate (prior to July 1) or Baseball Ontario (after July 1).   If a team is using call-ups, the coach must also have a copy of the call-up team’s roster.

 

4.  Coaches and other team officials are responsible for the conduct of their players, and anyone involved on their team, both on and off the field.

 

 

 

PLAYING RULES

2.  All game participants are prohibited from using any tobacco products and must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

3.  For Round Robin and Championship Final games, the home team will be decided by a coin toss.  For Semi Final games, the home team will be the higher seed.  All coin tosses will be completed 30 minutes prior to the start of the game.  Coin tosses will take place by a tournament convenor at the game’s assigned diamond.  A member of your coaching staff must arrive at the diamond 30 minutes prior to your scheduled start time to take the coin toss.  At the conclusion of the coin toss, the home team will be the given the score sheet.  Score sheets must be returned to Tournament Headquarters (Dorchester) or the Tournament Convenor Table (Thorndale) at the conclusion of the game.  The team that has travelled the furthest to the tournament will make the call on the coin toss.

 

4.  Baseball Ontario score sheets will be used. The home team will be the official scorekeeper.

 

5.  Games will commence promptly on time as per the schedule.  Barring extenuating circumstances, any team unable to field nine (9) eligible players within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time will forfeit the game. In the event of a forfeit, a score of one run per inning will be recorded against the forfeiting team and the winning team will be credited with a complete game.

6.  Ejection from any tournament game will result in an automatic one game suspension.  Suspensions may be increased, depending on the severity of the infraction.

7.  All games shall be 7 innings in length.

8.  For round robin and semi-final games, no new inning will begin after 1 hour 45 minutes have elapsed from the time of the first pitch.  However, once started, an inning will be completed unless the home team is batting and leading or scores the winning run after curfew is reached.  A new inning begins immediately when the final out in the previous inning is made.

9.  For final games, there will be no time limit.

 

10.  In the event of a suspended game, OBA RP2.2(b) shall apply for determining an Official Game.

11.  In all games, the following Mercy Rule will apply Ref: OBA 2024 10U/11U Playing Rules c.:
          i. 18 runs after 3 innings
          ii. 15 runs after 4 innings
          iii. 10 runs after 5 innings
          iv. 9 runs after 6 innings
If the home team leads by mercy after the top half of any such inning, the game shall be considered a mercy and the home team will not bat.

12.  In the event of a tie in the standings, OBA RP7.3 shall apply to break the tie.
