Midget HL #1, 2016 (Dorchester Baseball)

Midget 1 bounced back from a tough end of July with a win over Woodstock 11-1 going into the playoffs.  Ben Graham had a record high 11 strikeouts earlier that week in a loss to Thamesford 1. The Midgets fought hard in their first playoff game against South 1 on Monday August 1st but came up short 8-6.  However, Sean Berkvens blew most of the competition away with 14 strikeouts in the effort.  Congratulations, Sean! Dorchester Midget 1 got their record back to 500 last Monday with a victory over South 1 at the Field of Dreams.  Great pitching from Ben Graham and a solid offense were the keys to the win at home.  This coming week, the Diamondbacks meet Thamesford 2 for a home and away week -- Monday at home and Thursday at Thamesford North Park. Saturday June 16th was the Frank Colman Day All Star game at Labatt Park. Midget 1 met South 3 at the Field of Dreams on Monday.  It was an exciting, low scoring pitchers' dual with the game ending in a 4-4 tie when the time limit expired. A highlight was Ben Graham's 10 strikeout performance on the mound.  Congrats Ben on a personal best! The Diamondbacks have two more games this week, hoping to bring their record back to the .500 mark.

Midget 1 is bouncing back after an injury-prone start to the season.  We welcomed back Adam Kanbar and Sean Berkvens to the roster on Tuesday June 14th.  Berkvens responded by pitching a 5 inning 2 hit shutout that also featured nine strikeouts.  Fantastic offensive support resulted in a 12-0 victory over South 2.
