Black Sox Play Stellar on Both Sides of the Ball
What a game by the Black Sox in Thorndale!
The Black Sox set a new level of excellence as they put their most consistent offensive and defensive game together......on the same night! Even though the visiting Legionnaires were strong hitters, the Sox came up with great defensive plays to slow any rallies. The Rookie Selects allowed no more than 4 runs in any inning, something that has challenged them at times this year. Lead-off man, Jeremy Stiles scored all four times that he got to the plate, as Johnson, Stevens, and Tubman crossed the plate thrice each. McMillan, Stevens and Arnold each made fine baseball plays to cap the final inning and hold Listowel scoreless in the frame. Earlier in the game, Strom knocked down a tough ball at first base. Richardson, Wright, and Mercer showed amazing defense with fantastic throws of their own. Morrison's speed earned him an extra hit as he hustled down the line, and he made another routine play really close. All of the members of the Sox squad showed tremendous skill as they covered each other, and stayed patient with the ball. We are 4 VERY proud coaches! Well done boys!
