June starts with Nationals on the road!
The new month brought a game on day number 1 as the Diamondbacks travelled to play on the road against the North London Nationals.
The Diamondbacks playing their second game of a back to back situation went to starter Matthew Rodenburg for this game. The Dbacks pitcher started the game with back to back walks but was able to get out a jam with a come backer and two K's to get out his mess. The Diamond offense in the 1st inning loaded the bases with only one out but the Nationals pitcher was able to escape his jam as well to keep the game scoreless after 1 inning of play.
The Dbacks came out in the top of the 2nd and staked their pitcher to an early 3-0 lead thanks to a lead of single by Justin Barnes, a walk by Zach DosSantos and another single by Wade Devine to get some base runners. Sam Willsie managed cash in with RBI FC and the boys were off and running.
The bottom of the 2nd saw Rodenburg retire the 1st batter he saw right away then battle some control issues walking 4 and hitting a batter to score two runs for the Nationals. Rodenburg did mix in a K for the 2nd out but had to picked up by teammate Luke Norton who came into get the last out of the inning.
The 3rd saw Dorchester start with a lead off with a lead off 2B by Colin Langstaff and solid single by Ryker Daniel. Those two would come around to score giving the Dbacks a 5-2 lead. In the bottom half of the 3rd the Nationals rallied for one as a lead off single came around to score closing the lead to 5-3.
The 4th and 5th innings saw the Dbacks score two more runs increasing the lead to 7-2 and Luke Norton and Zachary DosSantos came in and closed the door retiring 12 of 13 batters to finish the game over the last 4 innings.
The Dbacks offense scored two more runs in the 6th and 7th to close out the victory over the North London Nationals 11-3.
